given as to why Princess cancelled the port of RHODES this summer onboard the Crown Princess? I had really looked forward to visiting Rhodes again this summer!
Not sure I'd call it an excuse because that implies that Princess did something they shouldn't have. I believe it was due to the port authorities changing schedules. Rhodes is a very, very tricky harbor to get in and out of and can accommodate only so many ships, including local and commercial. It's never guaranteed the ship can dock even when it's on the itinerary. I was on the original Royal Princess years ago and we sat outside the harbor in high winds, unable to enter the harbor, which had been closed for two days, stranding two cruise ships inside. I was very disappointed but glad we were safe. I'd rather have an itinerary change now than miss a couple of other ports due to weather. (That happened to me on the Crown a couple of years ago when we were docked in Dublin for two days and couldn't leave the harbor.)
