Skipping the tie for Formal Night

Will be sailing on Carnival out of NOLA on 4/28 and was wondering if tie is a neccesity? I will be wearing a nice dark suit but wanted to add a dressy trendy shirt without tie. Is this acceptable?

formal

adj 1: being in accord with established forms and conventions and requirements (as e.g. of formal dress); "pay one's formal respects"; "formal dress"; "a formal ball".;)

I would suggest wearing the tie personally.:)

Cheers.

Formal is formal, the tie should most likely be worn if not wearing a tux.

But chances are even if you dont wear the tie you will still look better than some men that dont dress up at all....

  • 4 weeks later...

I just cruised RCCL and we had 2 formal nights. On the first I wore a tie and on the second I did not. I think it really comes down to what you are comfortable with.

If you only have one formal night scheduled I would personally go with a tie for it.

I thought of the same thing, after wearing ties for so many years. I was going with a Black suit and a shirt to match my wifes Dress.

But, I was going to wear the a Tie to dinner then after dinner take it of for the Night.

You may want to do the Same...
