Time Lapse Video of Galveston Arrival/Departure

I was on the March 25, 2012 sailing of Mariner of the Seas. I have seen people set up video cameras of arrivals and departures and create a time lapse of it and I wanted to give that a try. These 2 videos are our arrival into Galveston on April 1. The first video is when we were coming into the channel. I have only been on one other cruise into Galveston and that was Voyager in Feb 2011. On that cruise (which was fog delayed and we didn't arrive until early afternoon), we went to the end of the channel, turned around and came forward to dock. On this trip, we turned around near the place past where all the heavy farm and construction equipment is sitting and backed down the channel.

I was on the starboard side of the ship with the camera facing forward in the first video. You can see the Carnival Magic ahead of us from about 10 seconds into until 40 seconds. We turn around at the 2:11 mark. This video is about 20 minutes compressed to a little over 3 minutes. Here is a link to the video on Vimeo.

For the second video, I stopped the camera after we started backing up from turning around and pointed it toward the back of the ship. You can see us pass the Carnival ship as it is docking at around 1:01. This video is 26 minutes compressed into a little over 4 minutes. Here is a link to the second video on Vimeo.
