Budget Queen Posted April 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Of the two, Northwestern Fjords. Longer, is better for scenery and more wildlife viewing opportunities.
lar Posted April 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2012 It depends on how much time you want to spend on the water and what type of experience you are looking for. Kenai Fjords Northwestern Cruise spends 9 hours on the water. For meals they offer a continental breakfast and a sandwich/wrap for lunch with other snacks for purchase. Their tours are narrated by the captains and on-board naturalists. They are the only company that travels all the way out to Northwestern tidewater glacier. Major Marine Tours 7.5 hour tour visits two tidewater glaciers. Guests can add an all you can eat Alaskan salmon & prime rib buffet or bring their own food. The tour is hosted by a national park ranger, who also runs a "junior ranger program" for kids. If you have children the Major Marine tour might be a better choice due to the Ranger program. If you add on the buffet meal to the Major Marine tour the two cruises are about the same price.
