Just back from Sky - fun times!

DW and I just back from 4-day on Sky. Good cruise, great staff - ship showing its wear a bit, but lots to do and NCL does a fine job. Great for a short vacation. Tired from travel - but let me know if questions.....went in and out of FLL without a hitch - stayed at Intercontinental in Miami pre-cruise. Did all of the specialty restaurants on ship, had fun on a couple of the shore excursions. Not nearly as much down time on the longer cruises, so definitely need to step up the energy......party like a Norwegian......

We were also on the Sky this week--our first cruise. We had a fabulous time, and I think this was a perfect first cruise.

We also ate at each of the specialty restaurants, and enjoyed them. Le Bistro was our favorite.

I agree that there is not much down time. I had expected to come home more rested. Still, it was GREAT. We're already thinking about our next cruise.

Does the Sky do the sail away BBQ or any BBQ?

The kids on our trip were remarkably well behaved (save the ones running in the cabin above us -happens, and was within reason; and the ones left at a table by themselves in the Bistro (requires multiple levels of adult stupidity for that to occur)); would definitely recommend a drink called the "rebellious fish" - we are not big drinkers, but found ourselves tipping the bartenders extra due to their "free pour" liberties. They do 2 for 1 martinis at bar on the 12th floor - warning - if you want to drink more than one, you should have some practice first....the salty snack mix rocks.....

Actually came out ahead at the casino - their craps rules are quite generous for a cruise ship ($ 5 minimum and 3-4-5 odds); blackjack- not so much (6-5 on blackjack at most tables and those annoying automatic shufflers). There was a good crowd at the Hold 'em table with a live dealer.

The staff seemed to go out of their way to be friendly and the hand cleaning stations definitely were wise - all over the ship.....Laughed at the leftover Hawaiian motif - ship does need redone, but it's perfect for 3 and 4 day runs. I read somewhere Norwegian was looking to sell it.....I did not hit the megamillions, so will need to continue to be a passenger....

If you are a coke drinker - NCL Sky is a pepsi only ship. And the coca-cola they sell at the ports is carribean made - bizarre sweetener taste.....made us drink more water - healthier in spite of ourselves, I suppose, but I know for some folks, this will be important.

marc b,

What transportation company did you use to get to/from FLL to Miami?

I love the Sky! I'll be taking my 3rd cruise on her in Sept.

You're right about the snack mix in the Plantation Club - it's addictive!

They have some yummy martinis to choose from, don't they?

My DD & I went last October & had so much fun. On our last night we were poking around the shops & realized it was almost 8pm (2-for-1 martinis was about to end), so we ran through the ship hoping to make it in time, only to find when we got to the Atrium area that we were going the wrong way! We ran into Elizabeth, a waitress who had paid special attention to us at the pool on Day 1, as we were running by the Atrium Bar & she said hello to us (by name) & asked where we were heading in such a rush. We breathlessly explained that we were trying to make it to the Plantation Club for 2-for-1 martinis & she was kind enough to re-direct us. She even went a step further & said she would call ahead for us, so we didn't have to run - there was NO way we were going to make it in time at this point. When we got there we ordered our martinis & the bartender let us order another round, which he put in the fridge to hold for us, since it was now well past the 8pm cut-off time. Loved the customer service!

We used SAS from FLL to Miami. We were down a day early and got in around 6 p.m. They were right on it. They called before we landed. We paid $ 45 for both of us, but reasonable, given it was Easter Sunday and we were the last run, by ourselves. Used QLS on the way back - much cheaper (I think $ 25 for both of us), but a packed full van. Made it to FLL by 9:30.....Glad your customer service experience was awesome. Does not surprise me. Bartenders are obviously given free reign, and that is smart business. We drank more than usual, tipped more than usual, and came away feeling valued......
