kcep02 Posted April 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2012 I am looking for a pre cruise hotel and parking in Jacksonville. I checked that board and found nothing for Jacksonville. Any recommendations????
VolzCruiser Posted April 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2012 Have you looked in Atlantic departure ports for this info?
geovet Posted April 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2012 Many of the people on my roll call will stay at the Best Western Jacksonville and have a park and cruise package.
titlediva Posted April 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2012 There is a Springhill Suites by Marriott at 13550 Airport Court that has rooms for $99 per night with $15 pp shuttle each way and free parking for up to 7 days, and a Quality Inn at 1351 Airport Road with rooms for $89.00 with free parking up to 30 days and shuttle to port free each way. Of course, they are both near the Jacksonville International Airport, and about an 8 mile trip to the cruise port. I found a website that does cruiseport parking and I booked my room for Ft. Lauderdale in June. Just google cruise port hotels parking and it should be the first site listed. Good luck and have a great cruise!!
KroozFoolz Posted April 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2012 Most of the hotels that offer park and cruise packages are near the Jacksonville airport. We have stayed at the Clarion, Microtel, and most recently (but about a year ago now) Jacksonville Plaza Inn and Suites - all are in the airport area. Others in the area include Travelodge, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn, Hilton Garden Inn. I believe there is also a LaQuinta on Dunn Ave that has a park and cruise package. Holiday Inn Express Blount Island is the closest to the port but is a bit more expensive and there isn't a lot close by in the way of restaurants. My suggestion is if you have a favorite chain (and perhaps some points to use), check to see if they have one near the airport and if they offer a park and cruise package. There is also a parking alternative to parking at the Jacksonville cruise port - you might consider that option as well. There is information on the East Coast Departures board for Jacksonville though it might not be real recent (or on the first page), it will give you some ideas to look into. Do a forum search there for Jacksonville. This thread will probably be moved there.
ddsnanny Posted April 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2012 When we sailed from Jacksonville, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Blount Island. They had a cruise and park package with breakfast and shuttle to port. We have stayed there twice
kayhold Posted April 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2012 I have read here on CC about the La Quinta on Dunn Ave. We are staying there and the rate for us was $40 (with a promo code, $45 without) Shuttle to and from is free, parking is 5 a day. That makes the hotel AND parking/shuttle the same price as parking only at port.
regalboater Posted April 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2012 Crowne Plaza Jax Airport has a package shuttle, parking, 1 night stay for like $150. I do a lot of events at their property and I love it.

jbanana1 Posted April 16, 2012 #17 Share Posted April 16, 2012 When you go to the Florida departure board you have to do a search for "Jacksonville" to get just Jacksonville info. Last year we stayed at the Springhill Suites Jacksonville Airport and loved it. Great location. You can search "Springhill Suites Jacksonville" and read my review from last summer. keystonemama Posted April 16, 2012 #18 Share Posted April 16, 2012 FYI from a Jax native for those of you suggesting Dunn Ave or Lem Turner area, this is the North side of Jax and that entire area is drugs & thugs and drive by shootings. I don't even drive through there let alone stay in the area. Airport is a much safer place to stay or near the beach. Happy Sailing,

keystonemama Posted April 16, 2012 #21 Share Posted April 16, 2012 which hotels are in that area http://www.mapquest.com/maps?cat=jax+storage+mall&city=Jacksonville&state=FL&zipcode=32218 Here is a map, hard for me to say what hotels, but unless your staying right near the airport, anything off of 95/295 near the North & Westside is just not great areas anymore. Ex. roads, Dunn Ave, Lem Turner, anything that says Ribault, Soutel, Leonid, New Kings Road, Brentwood, Moncrief, Edgewood, Beaver. It's just too dangerous there now. The Walmart on Lem Turner was robbed one night with armed gunmen. There's usually about 1 murder per day in those areas. When my son played football (we had moved to Keystone by then and they had to travel to play Ribault, he requested we not go to the game because it's too dangerous and our football team had to have a police escort. Teenagers carry guns to those games. Awful, I know, hence why I live in Gainesville now. Hope this helps, just would not want anyone not really familiar staying in these areas or leaving there cars, cause you probably would be missing your tires and hubcaps/radio's when you returned.

kayhold Posted April 17, 2012 #23 Share Posted April 17, 2012 With all due respect, I just re-read the reviews and called the precinct, and talked with an officer. I still comfortable staying there at the La Quinta at Dunn. They also have on-site security. I'm not worried about it - I haven't ever seen anyone here on CC talk about feeling unsafe staying there. I'm sure there may be crime in the area, but the officer assured me there was no daily murders, etc. What I was told is that parts of Dunn arent very safe, but near the interstate, all is fine. I checked the crime map for the area, and it showed me the same thing. Do you feel it's also unsafe near the interstate?
tree.critter Posted April 17, 2012 #24 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Hey neighbor, St. Auggie, too Hi there, I'm fairly new here to FL, moved after my mom passed away to be near my senior dad. Have to say that I'm really enjoying it here. Best thing is being driving distance to so many ports now. Was getting tired of the offereings in Southern CA!! :)

If it's near the airport I say you are good.:) If you venture too far down Dunn you are entering bad territory, my point is just stay near the airport for shopping, restaurants, etc. I lived in Jax for 35 yrs before moving to a safer area to raise my children in. They may not all be murders, but there are shootings all the time and armed robberies. Really all you have to do is google the news here, funny no murders here is a post notice Northside Moncrief....April 13... http://www.news4jax.com/news/Man-23-dies-after-being-shot-in-head/-/475880/10921180/-/acdc20/-/index.html Walmart parking lot... http://www.news4jax.com/news/Shooting-at-northside-Walmart-parking-lot/-/475880/7019162/-/d0cg9m/-/index.html Northside shooting... http://www.news4jax.com/news/Homicide-beating-at-Northside-party/-/475880/8485268/-/b66gv8z/-/index.html Drive by shooting.... http://www.news4jax.com/news/1-Dead-2-injured-in-Northside-shooting/-/475880/9277598/-/tlgjwsz/-/index.html Shooting, near Moncrief/Dunn... http://www.news4jax.com/news/Homicide-beating-at-Northside-party/-/475880/8485268/-/b66gv8z/-/index.html...
