ja940 Posted April 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2012 We are departing the Journey in Southampton on 8/9/12 and have a 12:25 flight from Heathrow to Miami. Will we have enough time for international check in? Also does Azamara provide transportation to Heathrow for passengers doing their own air? Rare uktog Posted April 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2012 For Heathrow you will need to be at the airport by 10.00 so it will be tight. Most of the transfers which you can buy are for flights leaving later in the day - does the ship arrive in Southampton that day or are you overnighting from the night before, that might make a transfer easier as you will not have to worry about immigration/customs, though to be fair at Southampton that feels lighter touch than elsewhere as it is well organised

If you can be off the boat and ready to depart Southampton by 8:00AM, I would recommend Discover the South airport transfers. We're using them when we arrive Heathrow Aug. 8. As they are based in Southampton, they might be able to help you determine options. Enjoy your cruise!
Grandma Gilly Posted April 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Info from Ithikan sounds great UNLESS you hit a jam on our infamous M25. This is the main motorway around London and you will be travelling at peak rush hour. I would definitely take a later flight as the stress would be too much. We live on the east side of London and allow almost 2 hours to get to Heathrow during rush hour, a journey of about 45 miles.
room010 Posted April 24, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2012 It's a distance of 56 miles on very busy roads during peak morning traffic. If all the planets are aligned you could just make it but it's highly risky IMO. It's a stress you don't need.
Ithikan Posted April 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2012 Agreed. Reading these posts, I believe I would opt to change flights rather than take a chance on traffic. Thank you, Grandma Gilly and room010.
