ginger123snaps Posted April 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2012 We just got off the Carnival Magic and my kids (ages 4, 4, 2) LOVED the splash pad area. I'm assuming that this water feature is only on the newest of boats. Do any of the other cruise lines have a water splash area like this?
Rare Essiesmom Posted April 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2012 Carnival's Fantasy class ships have it also (except Elation and Paradise). Also a great on on Splendor. EM

Gatrcruzer Posted April 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2012 NCL, Royal Caribbean, and Disney all have water features of various types, depending on the ship. I do not believe that Princess, HAL, Celebrity, Oceania, Azamara, Crystal, etc. have this type of amenity. Royal has nice splash park areas, and the new Disney Fantasy has a really cool looking splash area.
Cre8tivCruiser Posted April 30, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2012 This is on the Splendor? Is this like a pool or more of a sprinkler park? Do children need to be potty trained? Thanks!
Dafunkgirl20 Posted May 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2012 I too am curious if the toddlers need to be potty trained for the splash parks/pools on the Splendor?
Gatrcruzer Posted May 5, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2012 In order for non-potty trained children to use pool facilities of any kind at sea, there must be a special filtration system in place. This is different from land-based pool facilities, where they can be super chlorinated to deal with the bacteria from feces (which is the main concern). There are a few Royal Caribbean ships that have this special filtration system for a small splash area for diapered children, and all of the Disney ships have this system for one small area. As of now, no other cruise lines have this feature, so children who are not potty trained may not use the splash parks or pool facilities on other cruise lines. On Royal Caribbean ships with splash parks, children who are not potty trained may not use them - they must stick to the small splash area designed for them. The degree to which this rule is enforced varies by cruise line, by ship, and by who is out monitoring. I have witnessed parents ignoring the signs that say children who are not potty trained are not allowed. Sometimes they are removed, sometimes no one notices. That said, it is an important rule for the safety of all passengers, because it could lead to outbreaks of serious illness on the ship, and could shut down pool facilities on the ship for long periods of time. So to answer your question, the splash pads are not for non-potty trained kids. Do people take kids who are not potty trained? Yes, but they shouldn't. Kerry's Girls Posted May 5, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2012 This is on the Splendor? Is this like a pool or more of a sprinkler park? Do children need to be potty trained? Thanks! It's more like a sprinkler park with climbing features and small slides as well. There are pictures of it here if you do a search - my kids loved it. Kids must be potty trained. cruisegal78 Posted May 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2012 On the Norwegian epic (not sure about other ncl ships) there is a huge shaded sprinkler park. There are also small slides for younger kids, along with 3 large slides spanning a few decks.
