Messunderstood Posted May 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Has anyone ever been to this Key for the day? It looks awesome. But I wonder, does it have enough to occupy you for the day? Our party is as young as 9 and as old as 68. Some of us are sun-lovers and some of us are fidgety after 30 minutes in a lounger! None of us are big drinkers and usually a fruity drink will suffice. After that it's soft drinks. Would it be better as a half-day outing? Tell me more please....:D
givemeliberty Posted May 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2012 I am looking at this beautiful place as an option as well. I see on Trip Advisor that people on cruises have went to Little French Key, but I would like to hear from some CC folks. Thanks! :)

wecamp Posted June 13, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2012 You can email them direct from their website. I did and told them we planned to spend the day there. They emailed me back several times and the last time they said they now have a service to pick you up at the port and take you back for $20 per person. Then you don't have to worry about taxis and it's the same price. We are going to do that.
givemeliberty Posted June 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2012 For transportation, is that $20 per person per way? What is the price per person for the day on the island? I read on-line that it $18 per person. Is that correct? Is there enough time to go to Little French Key from the Mahagany Bay pier? We are cruising with Carnival. We will be in port 7am-3pm (ship time, haven't quite figured out Island time yet). Thank you so much for any answers you can give me. I really appreciate it! wecamp Posted June 13, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2012 It's $20 per person round trip. I was told that is the same price the taxi charges. I will know more information for you when we return. We will be there the 27th. They have 2 prices $18 and $45. I found the infromation on their website and I emailed them. The $45 is going to include lunch. I know about the island time is 1 hour different, so we will be careful.
BeneClone Posted June 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2012 If your ship is out of Florida, Roatan is two hours behind. At 0700 ship's time your host is at 0500 and you need to head back by 1200 local. Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk
givemeliberty Posted June 14, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2012 Is it always a two hour time difference? During certain months, isn't it one hour? Being in port 5am until 1pm kind of sucks! Something else to think about when picking a cruise....But then, I'm still learning! :) Thanks for all of the help with the questions!

Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk 2 The time listed on the itinerary lists the local time that you are in that port. So, if your itinerary says that you are in Roatan from 7 am - 3 pm, then it is 7-3 local time (in Roatan) not 5am to 1 pm
belkin Posted June 24, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 24, 2012 wecamp please come back and let us know how it was. I have this trip booked for 12/6. Always check you watch against ship time and go by that. Better safe than sorry and depending on the ship and island they do not always match. Silvestri4 Posted June 24, 2012 #12 Share Posted June 24, 2012 went here in april with my GF and my mother joined us because the rest of the family was going snorkeling. I just wrote a big post on this place in the other thread with a very similar name to this one. I have done 4 cruises, this was the best place i have ever been to! There is something for everyone, a small zoo where you can play with the monkeys. There are 2 bars on the island 3 private beaches, snorkeling gear, and the reef is right off this island. The owner will take you to the reef. He is a diver, he found this island while he was diving the reefs. We spent the entire day here, when we only thought we were going for lunch and coming back. The package that includes lunch is totally worth it for 44$ we were served by the owner himself, filet minion, chicken, shrimp, lobster tail, coleslaw, fried plantaines, and rice with pico. All GREAT! The package comes with your first drink, and if you want to go snorkeling the package includes all of that also. We spent the entire day on this island with possibly 20 total people. It cost us i think 18 per person round trip with a taxi ride from MB, if i remember correctly. To me personally if they are now offering a service from the ports then it would be worth the extra 2$ to use them. This is a family owned and operated business, and they seek to impress. They only want travelers here who have learned of this place through word of mouth. This apparently will NEVER be an excursion that the ships will have on their list. Again this is a must do if your looking to just relax for the day and enjoy the islands. Great, Clean facilities, very nice bathrooms, and great people all over this establishment. YOU MUST GO if your considering it. you will not be disappointed

The $88 quote includes ALL you can eat and drink - the $65 one is the lunch offered and one drink. It took me a couple of minutes looking at my email to see the difference :)

Wow, sounds like they are tweaking their packages perhaps. Hope ours stays at $65 - I've saved the email from them with the quote, and my reply confirming we wanted that package. Maybe you can email them back and ask about that, tell them you've seen different quotes other people received. Good luck!
