Upgrades

We recently had an e mail from our travel agent attaching a flyer from Silversea offering upgrades on certain Med cruises on Spirit this summer - upgrades from Vista to Veranda and Veranda to Mid Ship Veranda. This is the first time that I have seen Silversea offer upgrades in the UK - maybe they do in other parts of the world, I don't know, although we were told by on one of our cruises by the Cruise Consultant that "Silversea don't offer upgrades at all." Sign of the times?

Were these upgrades or upsells? In other words, were they charging for the higher level or offering them on a complimentary basis?

They offered this last Summer on selected Caribbean sailings from Vista to Veranda grade - luckily unlike the 'mass market' lines such as Cunard, etc they do not discount the product to heavily and cheapen the brand - sadly this is happening on Cunard hence why I now love Silversea not withstanding their very attractive single supplements!
