So Long Carnivial.... It's Been Real.. But I Have To Say GOODBYE!!!

Sorry Jana but. I just went on the monarch and paid less then 400 ( 4 days) for an OV room and loved it..was my first RCL and first OV and not a balcony but heck it was cheap. Found most of the things in relation to the fascination equal (comparing 2 small older ships is only fair)

Sarge I am a big fan of your knowledge and site. But if carnival does not want me why do I keep getting the 25 percent off ,casino cash, free gifts, and free drinks....sure I. Am not subsidizing your cruises? Not to mention my shareholders OBC. Seems paying for two is far cheaper some cruises then what I gamble in a night.

Plus I get all the pillows ;)

Sure it's not the casino, drinks, dinners, pictures, excursions,,etc that are the majority of the income??? You should know?

It tend to think the room charge is gas money and everything else is what counts?

Thank you.

I think the casino is outsourced. Carnival gets their money whether or not you or I gamble. Same with the gift shops and spa. All Carnival has to do is fill the ship to 100% capacity. Selling cabins that hold 2 or more people to a single makes it that much harder for Carnival to get to 100% capacity.

"Cruise, Inc." is an informative look at how one cruise line makes money. I doubt that there is that much difference in how they all do business (especially given how they all try to copy each other:)).

I paid more than that and just didn't enjoy the cruise as much as Carnival Triumph. Both are old ships for their respective cruise lines. Even if they gave me another cruise on Monarch free I wouldn't want it because it was not worth the airfare, transfers and precruise hotel expense to go again. This is evidently an individual thing so maybe the OP would enjoy a cruise on the Monarch of the Seas. I don't know. What I do know is that as far as the on board experience is concerned, I have enjoyed the Carnival Cruises I've taken more than the RCCL cruises. Since one of my RCCL trips was in Europe (loved Rome and Mediterranean) I would say I enjoyed the ports on that cruise more than any other but like the on board experience better on Carnival.

Carnivial IS More Expensive "If" Sailing Solo!!! You Have To Pay 200% Supplement, With The Others It's 150%!!:o

Overall this is JUST NOT TRUE . . . in a few cases maybe (solo cabins on the EPIC), but even then in most cases 150% of the DO rate on RCI, Celebrity, Princess and NCL could very easily be more than 200% of DO rate on Carnival.

I sympathize with you as being a SOLO cruiser in the past on Carnival I've now had to bite the bullet or find a cruise partner (which I did). :) And, like you, I'm even looking at other lines now also, but would never say "good-bye" to Carnival.

Seeing threads like this is a shame, and I hope the cruise lines read them. Not everyone out there is in a relationship, or has an available roommate at all times. They need to get their act together when it comes to attracting single cruisers. NCL took a step in the right direction with the solo cabins on Epic, but there is a long way to go.

Also, I still think 150% over the regular fare is ridiculous (200% is highway robbery). They should have smaller private rooms available for singles at a small premium, maybe 10-20% above standard fare.

A man with a plan that appeals to me a great deal. :D

I would be quite content with a much smaller cabin (less closet space, smaller bed, etc.) I could even "try" a cabin that shared a bathroom (similar to some of the old hotels where a JACK'N'JILL setup allows two cabins to share a common bathroom). I cruised a 1A one time on, the GLORY (I think) which had a very narrow cabin with just enough room to have a bed on one side and desk and closets on the other. The bathroom was nearly as big as the cabin (modular construction makes them all the same probably). It had a bunk that came out of the ceiling for a 2nd passenger and was more than adequate for only me. I loved it. Why not a "boatload" of these on one entire deck of a future cruise ship?

The EPIC has the right idea, but with the "socializing' center that comes with it, its questionable how much space their saving. Besides, in my case, what young people want to socialize with someone that was in KINDERGARTEN while Hitler was still alive? (pardon the pun) :D

Looks to me like it does not matter if Carnival is charging port charges for two people or not, the only thing that matters is the final cost. And all the compareable cruises I found, Carnival is the best price.

Maybe you are new to CC and dont read many threads.

The poster was saying they expected the reason the OP was leaving was one of those reasons .... because we read it all the time. Thats what I was expecting, so I knew what they meant.

They were saying ... well at least its for a new reason.

He already said it was a JOKE ... guess you didn't read that ;)

To the OP, are you practicing on how to be a troll? I mean no disrespect, but like a lot of others on here I am wondering WHY you bothered posting this thread if you are just going to shoot everyone down and exclaim "I already made my decision ..." How did you think people would respond? Stop blaming people on here for their replies! You are the one to blame - YOU

I have no idea who you are, I don't think I am going to lose sleep over you not being on my Carnival cruise.

I am also a solo traveler so that is why I read this whole thread (thought I would pick up so good tips) ... But for the most part this thread is a joke.

LOL guess you never watched CNN,MSNBC, CBS, etc news then. All they want is advertising revenue. They make up the facts to get ratings. If you think only one is nutty and corrupt, you are very naive.

Its not your thread, Jay . . . its Cruise Critic's thread. They'll determine if it EVER gets closed. This thread isn't even close to a monster. As a matter of fact, this thread brings up many "balanced" opinions on a very serious issue for us SOLO cruisers. You give yourself way to much credit, however.

If you didn't think you'd get a few negative comments from the Carnival Cheerleaders, then you truly are naive. Most people when they've had enough of something, like Carnival, just go elsewhere. They don't require a grand exit ala Keith Obermann or Joy Behar.

If you don't like the logical comments (probably like FOX news) then don't keep coming back to this thread and posting. That only moves it to the TOP of the heap. :D Incidentally, most of us here, I'm guessing, are Capitalists so we'll ALWAYS DO WHAT'S BEST FOR OUR BOTTOM LINE.

I just posted facts that DO matter, and that DO affect your wallet.

And I realy do not think people care that you are leaving Carnival ( if in fact you do ), people are just pointing out the facts or thier opinions, it's not like you have to keep coming back to read this thread if your tired of it. You can "leave it" behind, just like your leaving Carnival.
