Bari on a Sunday

Can anyone tell me if the shops in Bari are open on a Sunday? We've been there before but not on a Sunday. We've decided to walk in to the Town from the port and see Bari itself as we did a trip to see the cliffs the last time. It looked lovely from the bus and we said if we ever returned, we must explore it, so we'll be there on the 17th June and any recommendations for anything to do on foot are welcome.

It was pretty closed in mid October 2010 (we arrived on a ferry from Dubrovnik the evening before), and then took the bus to the airport to get our rental car the next morning. The best you can hope for is tourist shops though Bari isn't a renown tourist destination. The Sunday closure can be said for most of Italy.
