So confused about what to do in Grand Cayman?

Is Grand Cayman the type of island where a land tour is advisable or just beach stuff? I usually like to incorporate a land tour and beach time b/c that way I feel I get to see some of the island but also get time to sit in the sun and relax.

We also visit Key West and Montego Bay on this cruise. We wouldn't be against dolphin or sting ray tours but I also don't want to spend the entire time we are in port on one excursion and missing out on an Island tour.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

At Key West i am a big fan of Hemmingway house tour with all the cats:

In Camen Islands I would do the Sting rays: If you are going to Cozumel i would do th beach and Dolphins there: If you aren't going to Cozumel then do the Dolphins at Grand caymens: I wouldn't bother to go to hell : i did enjoy the turtle s: which was near by:

Hey everyone!! We just got back from Grand cayman and wanted to share a new company that we found called JJ Divers..we found them through discount excursions and we did a discover or beginners scuba dive so you dont have to be certified or anything. Cayman is the #1 dive spot in the carribean so we really wanted to try. my wife and myself are not certified and it only cost $75 all the scuba gear included and we went to a great site not just on port like eden rock and it was fully guided !!! they have a web site http://www.jjdivers.com[/url] ... it waqs amazing !!! we saw sting rays and turtles and so many different fish that our guild/instructor taught us about !! after the dive he brought us to a wonderful beach and hooked us up with a free drink !!!! by far the best time in grand cayman we have ever had !

My wife even left a review on trip advisor... ill copy and paste it cause after our trip i need more time on my couch lol

I couldn't have asked for a better experience for knocking scuba diving off my bucket list! It's been a dream of mine for many years and something I was saving for the perfect place (and great company, of course). I am frightened by large bodies of water and its' occupants, so needless to say, I was very nervous about "heading out to sea" without a boat, life jacket...... and being able to breathe normally (lol). However, Jacob took my hesitations to heart and took his time in the pool with us, coaching and reassuring us every step of the way. Without his help, I would have never been truly ready to go and explore the underwater treasures Grand Cayman diving has in store (and he surely knows his way around!) The dive was totally customized to our lack of experience but desire to see really cool things. I actually felt so comfortable and so relaxed under the surface that I wanted to go right back down once the dive was over. JJ practically takes you in as family, and the stories alone are worth the acquaintance. This dive was definitely the highlight of my trip (beating out jet-skiing, para-sailing, snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins ). I hope to go back and dive with JJ sometime soon and will be telling everyone about them

I HIGHLY recommend Nativeway watersports! We went in April '10 and booked with this company! It was our first cruise and I did a LOT of research. Sharon and Eldon were absolutely wonderful! We were able to tell them what we wanted to see and do and they would pull over for photo op's if we wanted! Swimming with the stingrays on a private tour as opposed to being with the big cruise ship groups was awesome!! Happy travels!

NativeWay will also drop you off at 7-mile beach after the Stingray excursion so you can spend the afternoon on the beach. Then you get both the island tour/excursion and the beach time. A quck taxi/bus ride back to the pier and you have just spent a day in Paradise!

Thanks everyone. I actually reserved the Island and Stingray tour on Sat and already got the confirmation email.....now....what to do in Montego Bay......

In Montego Bay, there is a tour service, knowjamica, that is great. Javia is great and he also has a tour guide. She kept us in stiches during the whole tour. We went to a rum cake factory, a super nice resort with super views, a church that was amazing and then to Rose Hall. Rose Hall does have an admission fee of about $20. You could also e-mail him about a tour and I am sure he could make some great suggestions, based on what you would like to do. We also stopped at a place for lunch and another place for a few minutes shopping. On the way back, he dropped the ones that wanted to at Margaritaville(sp). I think that is the one they stopped at. He took the rest back to the pier and then went back to pick up the others. Everyone was back in plenty of time. You can't go wrong with them. Another suggestion, is to go to the POC threads and read through some of the ideas that other people have or suggestions of things to do. I've been going through them for my cruise in Jan and have gotten some really great ideas.
