Brindisi... anyone been there??

We have a stop on our late July cruise in Brindisi. I'm not finding much information on the stop, and I'm curious if anyone has any experiences they would like to share?

We were in Brindisi one time when we flew there from Rome to catch a ferry over to Corfu. It has a pretty lively downtown and an active port. But not sure that it would be considered a major tourist destination. If we were ever there for a long port day we would probably rent a car and head south to explore the Puglia region of Italy (one of the few Italian regions we have yet to visit).
