Whale watch in Halifax

We will be on the Carnival Glory, and are thinking about doing a whale watch in Halifax. Can anyone tell me if the end of July is a good time of the year? I thought when ever I had gone, that it was cold, but it has been a little while. I don't want to waste my time or money if all we'll see is a few birds. I know there are no guarantees, but if it's just a bad time of the year, we'll probably skip it.

Whale watching is not the best from Halifax. Most of the big whales congregate in the Bay of Fundy in the summer.
