Refunding Unused OBC

Recommended Posts

I believe that TA OBC can be refunded if not used, but how does one get RCI to use the credit they give you first? I will be getting $500 OBC from RCCL and $300 from my generous TA on a cruise next summer. I'd like the ship to apply the company OBC first so that if there is anything left over, I can get a refund.

Do we have to go to guest relations and ask that they apply the credits in the way that we prefer?

....and, no, I will not be revealing the source of the OBC.

I believe their policy is to apply the RCL OBC first, and then the other OBC. That's the way it has always gone for us (although we rarely have any left). But you can always stop at GS during the cruise to make sure they're applying it that way. Also, since RCL OBC "disappears" at 10:30PM on the last night of the cruise, you can always go to GS and withdraw whatever's left on the last day in cash. (There may be a 3% service fee on this - at least there is when you do that in the casino)

edited to add: I just noticed you're doing a B2B. I believe the OBC is credited per leg. So, any unused RCL OBC that goes towards the first leg will disappear at the end of that leg.

OBC from RCI is non-refundable unless it is a price reduction. OBC from other sources is totally refundable. OBC from RCI is used first.

If you still have a credit balance by the end of the cruise which would be $300 or less, then you can ask for it at Guest Relations on the afternoon prior to debarkation. They will give you cash or you can have it appear as a credit on your credit card statement.

^^^^I believe they charge a 3% fee, don't they?

I remember they told us that we could only get it from the casino. Would have rather saved the 3% if it's true that you can get it from GS.

Yes, withdrawing money from the Casino against your SeaPass account does incur a 3% service charge.

You can go to Guest Relations and request any unused refundable OBC after 4PM on the day prior to debarkation. That 4PM time could vary by ship.:D
