Reflection or Oasis

Why doesn't the OP try Disney since he is worried about the kids. I heard they were the best if you have children involved.

We have been on solstice twice and infinity once. We love celebrity. We are trying royal Caribbean on the allure this coming November it will be interesting to see if we like royal better the celebrity. Happy sailing. :)

I'm only 23 going on 24 and I prefer sailing Celebrity. I like the atmosphere better. Yeah, it certainly is disappointing that the discos are basically empty most of the time. There are plenty of late night shows like comedy or karaoke to keep busy with. I've been on Freedom class from Royal Caribbean and enjoyed it, but I'm addicted to Celebrity now. The service is much better than on any Royal Caribbean ship. It is all non-smoking inside the ship and on all the balconies even the casino.

10 years ago when I was docked next to a Celebrity ship I used to be like there goes the old people ship... but I'm surprised how much I liked it after sailing Celebrity Solstice when she was brand new. I've been on Solstice, Equinox, and Eclipse. Looking into booking Equinox a second time. We are elite members too and I love the internet minutes 90 minutes on celebrity vs 30 on royal caribbean. The elite member benefits far exceed any Diamond member benefits we got on Royal Caribbean. I take advantage of no announcements too. The ship is so much more elegant, put together, classy, up scale looking than any Royal Caribbean ship I've been on. The non-smoking really keeps me with Celebrity because I just hate smoke or even walking by a lounge and smelling it. It is closest to a non-smoking ship that I have been on.

We went on Carnival Paradise back in the day (1999ish? or 1997?) when it was non-smoking and everyone knows that it turned back to full force smoking because Carnival couldn't get the guests to book on a non-smoking Carnival ship.

I understand that OP already made up their mind to go on Royal Caribbean, just comparing to two. Have fun! Any cruise is fun. :D

I enjoyed reading your post. My son, now 25, has sailed on primarily Celebrity since he was three. He absolutely loves it. It all depends on what type of cruise you want. I think you did a good job describing some of the differences. Oasis for sure would have more 'fun' things to do, but then so would Disney World. For what I want in a cruise, the Celebrity ships win hands down every time, kids or no kids. It all depends what type of experience you want. As a former working mom for many, many years, I wanted a more relaxed cruise where I could really spend some quality time with my kids. If they're off running around to this event or that 24/7 where does the family time come in? That's just my opinion - others feel the opposite and want their kids entertained all the time. Neither opinion is wrong- it just helps to know the ambiance of each ship so you can choose accordingly.

We were on the Oasis last May and I have to agree with most of what's been posted here. However the large number of children weren't the problem for us. The incredibly rude adults were the problem. The ship is huge and it feels like a floating city/amusement park, not like a ship/boat. We like to cruise on a ship which actually feels like it's on water. Sea days are our favorite. We'd never think of having a balcony cabin which overlooked....the inside of the ship???? It's like overlooking the inside of a hotel. But all that being said if we had young children we would certainly put our needs and desires aside for our kids. Children will love Oasis. It will be non-stop morning until night for them.

As someone said just make sure you book all your shows online from home from your computer. You'll end up with a 7 day 24/7 itinerary, (which btw made my husband nuts lol.) Whichever way you go, have a wonderful vacation.
