mtclimbermom Posted June 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2012 I was wondering if anyone has done the Princess excursion out of Skagway - the Evening Wildlife Expedition. We have two kids, age 10 and 12. It is a trip to hopefully see the brown bears feasting on salmon in August. Sounds awesome, but I am worried it will be long for the kids, excursion lasting 6 hours. Not sure it would be worth spending the $. I cannot find a review of this trip to find out if it is great for kids.
Budget Queen Posted June 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2012 If first three weeks of August, you have a good chance of no bear sightings. The peak time is end of Sept, with their late salmon runs. You have much higher sighting stats going on a fly in out of Ketchikan, again depending on your dates, but Traitors Cove and Neets, most of the month and Anan first half of August. mtclimbermom Posted July 1, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted July 1, 2012 That is really good to know! We are going to be there in the middle of August. Sounds like that would not be the excursion to do during that time if the goal is to see brown bears. Thank you!
