America's Cup-- ???

Recommended Posts

I have read glowing reports about America's Cup race and would like to book this when it becomes available for our cruise.

I have read that you can do very little or not. I have read it can be strenuous.

What is the reality? DH would love it but he is a Senior Citizen and I worry it could be too much.

Any help is appreciated.

You can choose to do as little or as much physical activity as you want. When we went, there were 2-3 people who sat back and did nothing but enjoy being on the water, and the rest of us chose crew positions. If you decide to take a crew position, you can do anything from serving wench (handing out beverages) to grinding a winch (a more strenuous job-this is what we chose and it was fun!) or trimming a sail. The choice is entirely yours and you will not feel awkward/uncomfortable if you just sit back and enjoy the race.

This was one of my most favorite excursions ever!

We did this excursion two years ago, and like a previous poster said, there's something for everyone. You can definitely work up a sweat as a grinder, but you can also take turns at that. Or you can just sit back and watch. We had a range of ages on our boat, from twenties to seniors. Overall, it was a great experience and I was really glad we did it!

Just did this excursion last week and it was one of the best things I have ever done! Like others have said, if you want to go along for the ride, you can do that or you can be very active. Its your choice. We had a woman who wanted to do no activity and she became the timekeeper, simply sitting on the boat and using a stopwatch before starting the race. It was a blast and well worth the money.
