PSkinner Posted July 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2012 DH and I are booked 2 nights at the Hilton Island Resort. Are there any "must eat" places near by? We are not big on Seafood but anything else we will try. Hole-in-the-wall places always seem to be the best!

cav_scout Posted July 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2012 There is this place called Michael Burger. Nothing fancy (at all), but probably the best burgers on the Island. I always go when im around.

Yes it should be included on the list. Not left off for any reason. Just overlooked! It is west of where Seawall ends to the west!

Galveston Cruiser Posted August 5, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2012 Michael Burger is okay. They are all cooked "their" way. Prefer The Spot at 31st and Seawall. Great happy hour and views. But there are lots of great restaurants in Galveston.
Holders3 Posted August 11, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2012 Our faves, The Spot for burgers and the sea view, New York pizza, yum, and Original Mexican-Fantastic Tex Mex.

rokalada Posted September 6, 2012 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2012 and if you want a really special treat, I would recommend Shearn's. It is a fine dining restaurant atop the Moody Gardens Hotel. The food and service are wonderful! The chef is formerly of the (now closed) Bob Smith Yacht Club. My votes would go to Shearn's or Rudy & Paco's for a really special meal in Galveston ---- and I live here!

We grew up dining there all the time with our grandparents, and it was a wonderful place. Best French onion soup and filet mignon I've ever had to this day. Glad to hear the chef is still around, though! -gina-
