Cancelling flights booked through Royal

Recommended Posts

Ok, so friends of ours have booked flights through Royal from Leeds to Southampton on the day of the cruise, and the recent weather is starting to worry them, as a lot of flights have been delayed/cancelled recently. Final payment has been paid. They are now considering doing what we are doing and driving down the day before.

Is it possible to cancel the flights and get a refund? Or will they lose their money?

Hi there

Can't advise on whether to cancel or not but we always book our flights and cruise direct with RCI because if there are weather problems / delays etc, Royal will do their utmost to get you on the ship.

Last year we travelled during Hurricane season. We left quite early for the airport only to find out RCI had been trying to contact us as flights to Miami had been cancelled. They rerouted us direct to San Juan via Spain. Spent a lot of time running around but eventually arrived a little earlier and was able to board our ship on the Sunday.

There were 2 empty spaces on our table and eventually on the Tuesday a couple from Scotland joined us. They had booked their own flights, missed it then spent the next couple of days chasing the ship.

They were a great couple who relayed their travels with humour and enjoyed the rest of their hols.

Bit long winded I know but point being if RCI handles your flight, they will do whatever they can to get you there.

It depends on the type of fare purchased. Fares run from fully refundable to fully non-refundable, with some options between those extremes. As another poster has mentioned, it's best to call Royal.

I would ring and ask as they could have chartered and therefore don't pay be seat or it could be scheduled and if so not able to cancel without losing the money

Although its's there responsibility to get you there if flight inclusive

Leeds is our local airport too and we've only known them cancel for snow or fog not rain
