Sea World excursion

I have sea world while visiting orlando and then drove to port canaveral to go on a cruise. It takes about an hour one way. Also Sea World is pretty much an all day thing. If you do plan on doing this excursion and have never been to sea world, I would highly recommend you go to

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=32 to acquaint yourself. I would also do a search for the sea world map and check out seaworld.com to see what shows/attractions you would want to do before you actually go. Manta and journey to atlantis get very long lines after noon. Everytime we have gone kraken doesn't get very long lines. What we did was do a show and after the show we walked towards the next show we wanted to see if and there was time we would visit the areas that are all the time, like the penguins and the shark encounter. Another piece of advice if you go to the clyde and seamor show, go early. They have a mime that I think is hilarious.

And regarding making it back to the ship on time, all cruise ships guarantee that if you take their excursion, you won't miss the ship.

We took the SeaWorld excursion through NCL in June. We got off the ship around 12 and arrived at 1:00. We were able to see the Shamu show and see the rest of the animals with the exception of Turtle Trek which had a 40 minute wait. We did not ride any of the coasters. The park closed at 7pm and we were beyond done by that point anyway. (it was super hot and we were with toddlers). The bus left at 7:30. There is only one bus to return you to the ship, not like some excursions that have return service every hour. I thought it was worth it! Just be advised that the Penguin/Puffin exhibit is closed for renovation and won't reopen until May or June 2013.

Thanks for posting this. We're planning to do this in December.

DH is in the military and Sea World offers free tickets for him and up to 3 dependents so we figured we would take advantage of that.

We aren't sure if we will book the ship's transportation or rent a car. I'm leaning towards renting a car, it will be about 1/3 of the price.

If you need to price car rentals at port canaveral go to this website:

http://www.mousesavers.com/dclground.html#pcrentalcar

we have used budget and avis before. I wasn't pleased with avis because twice I had a car rental that I confirmed before we left and twice they didn't have any cars for us. I have used budget a few times and was very pleased with them. They will pick you up at the ship and then bring you back for no charge. The drive is very simple from port canaveral to sea world. Don't forget that you will have to pay about $12 for parking (not sure of the exact amount). Also if you do book with the car rental also check mousesavers.com for codes to get an even better discount.
