Port Everglades Help

Recommended Posts

We are staying tonight at the Ft Lauderdale Hilton Marina before our cruise on the Freedom tomorrow. We know we are close to the port, but we don't know how to get there. Is it walking distance or do we need to catch a cab? Can someone familiar with the area give us a hand and maybe some directions?

Thank you!

You can not walk to the ship. It isn't relatively that far, but for security reasons there is a large fence that prohibits your access to the port from where you would be walking. If you walk down the sidewalk along the inter-coastal just behind the hotel towards the port you can see the ship...and the fence that prohibits your access. Take a cab or ask if the Hilton has a shuttle. We stayed there last year and I loved the location. Take a ride on the water taxi if you have time. Beautiful homes and yachts located on the inter-coastal.

We have stayed here many times. (ask for a room in the tower when you get there). If your room is not ready, they will hold your luggage. Go to Walgreens and get your last minute items, go to lunch. Everything on 17th St. is within walking distance.

The port is right across the street, but as the other poster said, you cannot walk it. They will not let you even if you wanted to. The morning you are ready to check out, the doorman is right there with tons of cabs waiting to take everyone. Unfortunately, you pay about 10 bucks, just to go across the street. Lol.

Let me know if you need to know anything, and I will try and answer
