Cozzette2 Posted July 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2012 We are trying to plan a family vacation. Our last vacation was on Carnival and you can smoke on your balcony but we didn't want to do another Carnival cruise. I know the policy for princess but couldn't find anything for RCC. I don't smoke so we have never had to even worry about the policy but those traveling with us do. Can you smoke on your balcony or is there just a limited area on the deck ? If the policy is no smoking on your deck we might be doing a land vacation, or, we send the smokers off on their own vacation and we book a smoke free balcony:D Thanks for whatever information you can give . kris

cruisenfever Posted July 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2012 On Oasis and Allure smoking is only permitted on ocean front balconies. There is no smoking on balconies that overlook Central Park or the Boardwalk.

brad_p Posted July 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Does anyone know if the policy is different for cruises out of Australia? I know they allow smoking in the casino but I thought it was different for south pacific/Aus&NZ cruises? Smoking laws are a lot stricter down here so thats why I thought it was different? Yes, the rules are different when cruising around Australia. There is no smoking anywhere within the ship including bars and casino. Smoking is peritted on balconies and on open decks in designated areas.

No smoking is allowed in interior spaces on the Australia cruises. That included the Sydney to Honolulu cruise. I was quite surprised that it included the casino as well. When Radiance reached Hawaii, the ship reverted to regular policies.

cruisecraze96 Posted July 14, 2012 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2012 I feel for you, I plan all our family trips and have to remember my mom and sister smoke so I need accommodate them too. Makes it lots of fun trying to find hotels that still allow smoking or ones with balconies that they can use. I don't smoke and am not thrilled with the smell, heck this year I got a 3BR condo at Bonnet Creek for 2 weeks and hardly ever stepped out on the balcony except early morning when they were not out there yet. Before I booked this I had to make sure they both had rooms with ocean balconies and i got my own little room this time :). I am just glad that phones can't really be used on the ships since my mom is usually out on the balcony at the hotels on the phone with work and she is one of those loud cell phone users :)
