DIY from Monaco to Cannes to St Paul De Vence, can I hire a taxi from the dock

There are 5 of us in the family. Been getting quotes from local tour operators. If we want to be picked up from Monaco, visit Cannes, Antibes, St Paul De Vence and Eze, it's about 480-500 Euros for a full day tour. So I am thinking, is it possible to hire a taxi once we dock in Monaco, and have the taxi drivers take us to these places? Would the 5 of us fit into 1 cab?

I know Cannes is on the train line, so might go with plan B to take train to Cannes from Monaco, visit Cannes, Antibes, and maybe Nice old town? They are all on the train line. But I have heard St Paul De Vence is really nice. Eze is hard to get to by train/bus if you want to DIY. Could anyone who has hired a tour company or have DIY the region, please share their experience. Thanks.

Possible yes. There will be some taxis lines up near the port gates and some of them might be large enough for a party of 5 (most will not take more then 4). However, you need to keep in mind that the taxis in the south of France (and MC) are very expensive for anything other then short local fares. I suspect that a taxi wil want at least 300 Euros (maybe more) and most of the taxi drivers are not professional guides (many speak very little English) which means they can drive you from point A to point B but then you are on your own. As to DIY (the only way we travel in France and Italy) we normally just rent a car for the day. Smaller cars that only carry 4 generally cost us less then 80 dollars for the entire day. You can rent a medium size car (holds 5) from Hertz for under $100. Driving is not very difficult if you have a GPS to give you some help. There is a large indoor parking garage right outside the entrance to St Paul de Vence, Eze Village has a parking lot right in front of the entrance, Nice has metered parking on most streets and also a number of parking garages.
