SuzCruise Posted May 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2005 I have seen a recommendation posted here to send yourself a gift of casino chips to avoid any charges to your ship board account and avoid having to bring more cash with you on vacation. Has anyone tried it? Is there any catch. Seems brilliant! Charge it on my credit card now and get no additional charges to go play in the casino. Rare Roz Posted May 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2005 Suz, I don't think it's any different than pre-buying shipboard credit. No catch that I can think of. Roz
cruzincurt Posted May 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2005 I think I would rather just take the cash in case the pre-ordered casino chip order somehow gets screwed up. How can you prove if you did or did not get them? People have complained about not getting pre-ordered items. I'm not ready to pre-order money credits. I could see the advantage if you earn miles or credits on your credit card.
LMHSRN Posted May 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2005 I do it all the time. There is no catch. You must go to casino and sign for chips. There is no room for saying you did not get them if you signed for them. You get a coupon in your cabin that you take to the casino cashier. I always take my confirmation number with me just in case there is a problem receiving the coupon in my cabin. Never have had any issues.... It is just one less thing to add to the final on-board billand and there is not a up-charge for adding "cash" to your bill. By pre-ordering them, I have my "slot" debts (hahaha) paid before I go...... Enjoy!
cruzincurt Posted May 11, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2005 OK, sounds good. I call it a "contribution".
SuzCruise Posted May 12, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted May 12, 2005 We are going to try to order them thru HAL over the phone or internet today. Cruise is in a week - so I don't want to risk going with snail mail. ;) Thanks for the info. It just seemed too good to be true.
