bringing food onto the ship

I have noted some recent discussion re: taking food off the ship (not advised). However, we will be spending some time in London before our upcoming cruise and DH as a strong attachment to some Stilton cheese that can be purchased in England. He would like to take some onto the ship to accompany some beer-like British drink (cider to think) he also plans to bring onboard (being Princess he thinks he can).

However, after reading the posts about taking food off - I am wondering if you are allowed to bring unsealed food onboard in Southampton. Perhaps we will just need to mail this stilton home. We did think we would not be allowed to bring the cheese into the US.

What do folks understand? Thanks
