Suggestions for apartments locations for touring

Daughter is studying abroad spring 2013 in Barcelona and DH & I thought it would be nice to meet her there at the end, tour around a few days, and then take a cruise out of Barcelona. We would want an apartment not too far from port but at same time close to attractions etc. DD thought of Las Ramblas. Any suggestions? We would be a family of 4 and wanting 2 brm, 2 bth w/air cond. & wifi. It would be easier to narrow down apartments if I can determine locations.
