Victoria Pub tour-NCL need local advice

The cruise line wants $67 pp to take us to three local pubs. I figure we can get there and back a lot cheaper on our own. We're not big drinkers but I think it might be fun to spend a Saturday night in a pub just hangin' out with the locals. Can anyone recommend a good place to go?

One of my favorites is the Strathcona Hotel with it's multiple bars and nightclub. They have a rooftop bar with a sand volleyball court, pubs, games room with pool tables/darts/etc., as well as a nightclub (haven't been in the nightclub). The "roof" can get pretty crowded and wait can be long for a table, but on a nice night it's a great place to people watch!
