shipoman Posted May 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Sorry for the "off the wallness" of these two questions...but...how is the Sushi bar on the Conquest and does the casino offer Texas Hold'em? My family and I will be on the July 31st sailing.... Thanks
jckvpa0 Posted May 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Did not try the sushi bar. In April they did not offer Texas Hold'em.
BettyB2 Posted May 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2005 We were onboard this past February and we went to the sushi bar every night for a pre dinner appetizer and cocktail from casino bar. We enjoyed it very much. Not a lot of raw choices, but the wasabe was pretty darn good! Many of our group of 38 also went there quite regularly. Sushi at the POINT restaurant was delish. raw and beautifully presented. there are pics below of the food... there was no Texas Hold 'Em - but on the Let it Ride tables they also give you an option of playing 3-Card poker along with the Let It Ride for an extra $5 bonus. It was fun
shipoman Posted May 14, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Wow..thanks for the quick responses...did the sushi cost extra?
BettyB2 Posted May 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2005 No, the sushi bar did not cost extra..it opened nightly at 5:30 and stayed open til around 8:30. It was free and as regular sushi eaters we DID enjoy it. There is wasabe, soy sauce, ginger and radish available with it. At the Point dinner cost $25 pp...and I had sushi, lobster bisque, spinach salad and the lobster. Wow was it worth it and soooo good. We went with 14 of our group to dinner at the POint, (the guys said the beef is the best they had ever had) 24 oz porterhouse and filet mignon....mmmmmmm:p During certain days we found sushi on the Lido deck buffet. trish99 Posted May 14, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Don't know the answers to your questions, but just thought I'd say "hey". We'll be on the ship at the same time. There's a thread for our group over on the roll call board. Trish
bcc99 Posted May 14, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2005 I found the sushi on the Conquest to be pretty good. Betty is right that the sushi bar is open from late afternoon to mid-evening, and I was surprised that there was usually a fairly long line to try it. The downer for me was that it was premade with whatever ingredients they felt like using...so if you've got a craving for tuna and that's not what they happened to make, you're out of luck. But the pieces are good-sized, and the wasabe will most definitely resolve any sinus issues you might be having.

My family and I will be on the July 31st sailing.... Thanks My family and I will be on that sailing, as well, and we LOVE sushi bars! I'm sure we'll see you there. My daughter is particularly happy that it is right around the corner from the teen area. ;-) Sheila

sea_u_onboard Posted May 15, 2005 #11 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Hey - everyone is over here. shipoman - There are several of us on this sailing. If you follow the links in my signature you will find us. I think we have a pretty fun group so far - not that you would find any party poopers on a cruise. Be sure to pop in and introduce yourself to the rest of the group. Half are on this thread already. As far as sushi - when we were on they also served some at lunch across from the Grand Buffet - the section towards the front. Not sure if they are still doing that. The sushi is free and you can buy "sake".

sea_u_onboard Posted May 16, 2005 #13 Share Posted May 16, 2005 So far your kids are in the young group - but that could change (here on the board) of course I'm sure there will be plenty more kids their age on board. Most people don't find out about this site until AFTER they cruise.
Rare blackwing Posted May 16, 2005 #14 Share Posted May 16, 2005 I found the sushi to be terrible. It mostly consisted of cooked salmon, cooked mussels, California rolls and other unidentifiable things. We went to both the sushi bar and the buffet at lunch. Pretty much the same offerings, it seems. If you want fresh, raw fish, you will be very disappointed.
