Any specific recommendations? I am looking at booking our next cruise and would like to go out of Galveston again, but am leaning towards Miami just because of the high costs to get to the port.

Country Inns & Suites... Hilton Garden... also Comfort Inns.

 

Actually, many of the hotels have a parking package.. not all have a shuttle.. call the hotel directly (not through the corporate 800 number). Country Inns is only 3-4 years old, has a free breakfast, free shuttle and free parking. I typically pay in the $75/night range.

 

To be honest, we never use the free shuttle. It's only a $12 taxi ride from the seawall (where most of the hotles are located) over to the pier, and it only takes 10 minutes.

 

With a shuttle, you sometimes have to reserve a seat in advance, and then they leave according to their schedule (one every hour, etc). And it may not necessarily go directly to the pier. It may stop and pick up other passengers along the way.

 

I'd rather pay the $12 taxi... but that's just me :D

Thank you for the info! I ended up booking today on a cruise out of Miami, instead, but will definitely use that option next time! Although my TA is based in Galveston, and even offered to pick us up and take us to the port because I complained about the high cost of getting there from the airport. LOL!
