quiet1p Posted August 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Does Carnival charge this?? I am disabled and cruising on a budget. Would like to plan for this if they actually charge this... The company reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel. Pricing is displayed as an average rate based on number of travelers. Monday, August 13, 2012: NYMEX West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil for September delivery closed down $0.14 at $92.73 per barrel. Rare sparks1093 Posted August 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Crude oil prices have been above $70 per barrel for a long time and none of the cruise lines that I know of are charging the fuel supplement. It's there to protect them from sudden spikes in oil prices that cannot be dealt with through their long term contracts (as I understand it, anyway). golfadj Posted August 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2012 They have said repeatedly they would not bring back the surcharge but if it got sky high all bets are off.
