Does anyone know if you can be around the pool before they open"??? We dock at 8am and are hoping to be at Atlantis by 830/9 to be there and ready! any ideas?

I think I am going the comfort suites route.

Yes, but you have to go back and get your wristbands at 9am.

Guests are on the property, holding chairs, jogging etc early in the am.

Security starts checking bands at 9am.

Any parasailing at Atlantis? Surfing? Sunfishing equipment? I am looking for reliable operators and websites as well as price quotes.

I have a water rat who loves the slides....and the ocean.

I'm beginning to think it doesn't have to be Atlantis. Any thoughts?

NO surfing in this part of the bahamas.. you'd have to go to one of the out islands, on the ocean side to do that.

Parasailing is available independently. Freddies Hi-tech Parasailing is who I recommend. You can find them on facebook.

NO sunfish equipment either.. waters in front of Atlantis are usually too rough for boating.

Jetskis are available by independent operators.. most are not licences or insured.. and most are con men.. be careful.. I don't recommend them.

Quick question, if I may, Scubagirrl....

Our ship docks at 7 a.m. Does this mean we can go have a quick peak inside Atlantis before security checks for bands and chase us out?;)

I don't know for sure.. (I hate doing anyting at 7am). I would think they would let you in and on the grounds until security arrives at 9... at which time you have to go get your wristbands and won't be allowed anywhere on the property without them (except the casino).

If you're ship docks at 7.. u probably won't be at Atlantis til 8am.. and there's a line for the wristbands.. so take a quick look around and head to get a wristband.. (depends on how you purchased them as to where to go).

Quick Question Scuba Girl....

I am getting ready to book with Majestic Tours. No problems that you have heard? I figure this is the easiest way to get into the park the earliest. Only two of us so it doesn't make sense to do the Comfort Suites. Not interested in the ship excursion and the tour it provides delaying our slide experience?

Thoughts? Anything else i should know before booking?? I looked at the cancellation policy and it's 24 hours.

You shouldn't have a problem with majestic. Just make sure you bring along a print out of your paid confirmation. They will tell you where to go (at atlantis) to pick up your passes.

Is there something better you recommend? Just making sure I am doing the right thing? Thanks Scuba

When we went on the Disney Dream, we received our wrist bands for the Disney excursion of Atlantis before we left the ship.

We have the Atlantis excursion thru Carnival. Will we receive our wrist bands before we leave the ship?

Whether or not you get your wristbands will depend on the CD and tour guide. Some wait til you get to Atlantis.

At one point.. Atlantis insisted that they did not give them out before they came as a group

Thank you so much for your answer. We won't be staying long to get a wristband (only docked from 07.00 - 14.00). We have a tour lined up with Jermaine to see the island and I thought we might get a quick peak inside Atlantis early on. Can we risk this?

You won't see much in the limited time you enter to the time security kicks you out. What time are u meeting Jermaine? Is he picking you up at the dock.

Personally.. I think Atlantis is way overhyped. Its a hotel. 2 towers are 40 years old.. the other 15 or so.. as for the aquarium.. it's nice if you have the time.. but it's not world class.. no even close.

I'd go with jermaine and check out the "real" bahamas.

So if I was to go through Majestic Tours instead of Comfort Suites, is there anywhere I would have to go to pick up passes before going to Atlantis? Or do you have something that you print off your computer and then go straight to Atlantis after getting off the ship. Because the price difference for us is not much, and if it would save us some time, it might be worth the difference.

THANKS!

So we'll just skip Atlantis altogether.

We're meeting Jermaine inside the Festival place at 9 a.m. (do you think we should arrange for him to come earlier, as we won't have much time in Nassau?).

Looking forward to our visit!!!

Any suggestions for places we CAN'T miss?

I think 9am is fine. Before that is rush hour traffic.. you could waste too much valuable time sitting in traffic.

I'm sure jermaine has an itinerary that he likes, that includes some history and culture.

I like to stop at Nesbitts for a Kalik Beer.. it's a little "joint" on west bay near delaporte.. will give you a chance to rub elbows with some local bahamians.

If your out that way around lunch.. stop by. Other than that.. I'm sure he's got you covered.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wondering if scubagirrl or anyone else knows if you can bring your own food into Atlantis. I was thinking of bringing some sandwiches from the ship for our lunch (knowing that the price of food there is pretty astronomical), but won't bother if they're just going to check our bags and make us throw them out.

your allowed to take food into Atlantis (no glass), but it's illegal to bring food off the ship into the bahamas. Only prepackaged foods, like chips, granola bars etc are allowed. No fresh foods, fruits, sandwiches etc.

You can buy lunch downtown before coming over.

Atlantis lunch prices aren't nearly as bad as thier dining pricings.

Where are some less expensive lunch options? We tried the deli place last time and 3 of us were $80 for basically grilled cheese sandwiches! Would like to find a cheaper option this time.

Also, we are doing the Atlantis Beach Day, and I've heard of people getting their wristbands and breaking off from the group...is there a recommended point to do this?

As far as beaches go, do I have options? Or do I have to go to the beach they send us to?

There are places on the property like Shark Bites that have burger combos and wraps for around $10.

As for breaking from the group, once you have your wristbands, you can head to the beach. But it's up to your cruise director when that happens.

There is a designated beach/ and area/ for cruisers. You don't have any options other that that area.

If you just want a snack, we got a really yummy soft pretzel dipped in cinnamon sugar at a little "hut" on the property!

When we did the beach day pass a couple of years ago, it included vouchers for lunch at one of the outdoor grills. You got a burger or sandwich and a drink. Maybe it has changed since then. You could try emailing Atlantis to ask.

To repeat Scubabirrl, don't bring food off the ship! But definitely bring your own water bottles (or buy them before you get to Atlantis). No water fountains anywhere and they charge a fortune for a bottle of water.

Does it have to be bottled water that you bring off the ship or can it be water from the ship in a stainless steel water bottle of your own?

Thanks. I will bring some cheap prepackaged snacks with us onto the ship. I just figured that since we've already paid for our food on the ship, that maybe it was an extra cost in port that we could avoid.

Does the water you bring have to be bottled or can you bring a stainless steel water bottle filled with water?

I don't know why you couldn't bring your own reusable water bottle. I always take one with me on my trips too. I'm trying to stop using disposible plastic water bottles entirely, but it can be hard when traveling.
