Just back from the Magic...Questions?

We are just back from the Magic. The trip was terrific despite Gustov and I have included pictures of our Premium Vista Balcony (7459).

Just back? Magic is at sea today.

Gustov? Do you mean Gustav - the hurricane in 2008 that killed hundreds of people?

Try again please?

Maybe "just back" means last week or something and who cares about the name of the storm.....I'm just excited to hear more about the cruise and (hopefully) see more pics! :-)

People died. Be respectful.

I'm not quite sure how to reply to this as I am pretty sure I wasn't being disrespectful....and my reply was definitely light hearted, no disrespect intended. I really meant what I said - I know the gulf has had a tropical storm or two recently and I can't remember the names....so my point is if the OP got it wrong - is it really that big of a deal? I'm thinking no.

OP im sorry your thread turned into this mess. You were just simply trying to help people. As a future cruiser on the Magic I appreciate what you were trying to do. Thank you.

Will you be posting a review later? I will think of questions to ask later, I just wanted to apologize for the direction this thread went.

Wow! So since I am still in vacation mode, yes, I am "just back". We exited the ship on Sunday.

We are aboard Oct.21 and very excited. On previous cruises the deli had this fresh mozzarella, arugula, and tomato on a baguette. My wife went nuts for this sandwich, still at the deli? How was debarkation on the tenders in Grand Cayman?

I've seen a couple of random comments about there being no sushi available at the sushi bar. Is this true, or was it just a fluke? Is the sushi available all the time at the sushi bar? I love sushi :D

According to the OP's signature, we were on the same sailing. No sushi on the Magic.

There was sushi on the dining room menu one evening as an appetizer, and one evening on the buffet. We were walking through to get some ice cream and I saw the sushi and made a bee-line for the buffet. There was spicy tuna & california roll.

I never saw sushi at the "Sushi Bar" - it was set up as a salad bar during the afternoon and nothing in the evening. I checked each sea day.

Big bummer! :-( I wonder what's up with that?! I love sushi!

Ernesto....we were in rough seas because of Ernesto.

@ Love to cruise83 - the suite would be larger than our balcony room and of course afford you perks we were not privy to.

@spring1onyou - I believe the aft wrap and premium vista are the same.

@mom4mom - They handed out lanyards in the casino after we sailed. I got mine aout 8pm and they still had many.

@cruisingnewb - I can’t say about the sushi, I would not have been looking for it.

She is a terrific ship! Before the trip, we called Carnival and linked up the four reservations that made up our party. This put us all at the same table for dinner. We also arranged for bar coupons for DS and flowers for DD.

Embarkation was very smooth. We arrived at the pier about 10:45, dropped our bags with the porter, and proceeded to check in. I had brought a mini stapler to secure our luggage tags but the porter had one already. We were given a letter explaining that we would likely have a new itinerary to the Bahamas because of the hurricane but they would let us know the next afternoon. We ate lunch in the buffet and headed to our room. Our room was laid out odd and did not have a couch but we loved the room and balcony. With two big windows and the door to the balcony, we always had a terrific view. My ONLY complaint about embarkation day is that we sailed during muster. My hint to you is to pick a table at the window so you can watch us sail away during muster. Dinner in the main dining room was very good. If you have kids, ask for the kids menu. Also, you can order more than one of things so DH and DS had two appetizers. The kids menu has a banana split so DH enjoyed his dessert. We spent the rest of the day exploring the ship and playing in the casino. The spa offered discounted massages if purchased during the tour.

Day 1 at sea - Room service breakfast on the balcony is one of our favorite parts of a cruise. You can order room service off of the TV after you leave Galveston. We explored the ship, took the grandkids to Cherry on Top, steamed our clothes for the rest of the trip, and I had an herbal Thai massage. It was amazing! They announced we would keep our itinerary. DH brought a small soft-sided cooler so he could buy a bucket of beer and tote it around easier. The bartenders just filled his cooler with ice and skipped the bucket. By the evening, we were in a thunderstorm and the seas picked up. We felt movement on 7 but DD was on 9 and DS was on 12, they both experienced quite a bit more noise and motion than we did on 7.

More to come....
