Freeport - Public Beaches / Bars?

Anyone know if there is access to public beaches in Freeport near Port Lucaya? Thought about doing the $10 day pass at the Radisson, but wondered how pricey the drinks would be.

Ideal would be to find a strip of beach bars with public beach access to hang at!

Any info would be greatly appreciated! :D

No beaches at the port. It's a working port.

$5 per person each way shared taxi/van takes you to Lucayan Marketplace area. There is also a hotel there that sells beach access. Something like $10 pp.

I know there aren't a lot of threads about Freeport, but there are *some* on there. You just have to hunt for them. One would think that the only thing in the Bahamas is Atlantis.

This review thread give photo instructions on how to get to the free beach in Freeport (and Nassau, too, if interested).

In a thread here, of course! :p

Like I said, it takes some searching to find things and the search function isn't terribly user-friendly. I have to use the "advanced search" to find anything useful.

I'll see if I can find some links and post them.

if you walk across from port Lucaya Market place to the Lucaya resort there is an attendant once you get close to the beach. It's on the left side of the Casino when facing it. They charge $10. I am pretty sure one of the pools had a swim up bar. We stayed on the beach. Drink prices were comparable to cruise ship prices I think.

If you are looking for a more quiet beach and cheap u can take a cab to Junkanoo beach club. Cab was a little more, $5 for a chair and umbrella if you buy a drink. No pool.

What I have read about the free beach by Port Lucaya is that it is very rocky.
