suebee53 Posted August 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Has anyone successfully used the Progreso pier shuttle with a travel scooter? I'm hoping to be able to get some help lifting my Pride Go-Go up into the bus, but I don't know if they even have room to stow something that's almost 40" long. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks! suebee53 Posted September 2, 2012 Author #2 Share Posted September 2, 2012 Having just returned today, in case anyone else has this question, here's the scoop: Forget using a scooter on the shuttle buses. It won't work. What did work, though, was bringing a collapsible wheelchair, which they loaded first on one trip and last on the other. It's also possible to pay for a taxi, if your scooter can break down into small enough parts to fit in the trunk of a very small cab, but I wouldn't count on it. My friend and I took the shuttle into Progreso, she pushed me in the chair to the beach, and I was able to walk (with her assistance) on the sand. If you can't walk in sand. . . don't do the beach at Progreso.
kitty9 Posted September 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2012 Forget the shuttle. They were very clear on our ship that no way will they help load a scooter onto the shuttle. A lightweight wheelchair is OK, but not a scooter.
