an Airbus A380 (the huge new plane). I prefer to wait until a plane has been in service for 3-4 years before flying on it

per the Airbus website: The A380 has been winning over business and leisure passengers alike since its service introduction in 2007.

Seemingly this would meet your requirements.

Agree that upper deck on the 747 is nice (and quiet).

While the A380 may have been introduced in 2007, that doesn't mean much unless we're talking about more than a few planes in service. I believe there are 97 A380's in service now--not a lot compared to other models. As recently as two years ago there were only 17 in service. There just isn't a lot of flight time experience with this airplane. I know people who have flown on the A380 and liked it, but being a very cautious (some might say overly cautious) flyer, I prefer to wait for more flight hours.
