New to Carnival, going on Fascination

Hello, I am a newbie to Carnival. Have been on RCCI 9 times and have enjoyed each one.

My brother is taking me on an all expense paid weekend cruise on the Fascination, May 27th.

Now I have heard many bad and good things about Carnival, so please help.

He booked this cruise because of the Port of departure and the time he could take off work. He is taking his elderly Mother in Law and his wife and me:) .

Now I can have a great time on any cruise line (I think)

I am a little concerned that they will not have the cruise they are expecting. Is it really a party all day and night atmosphere? ( we are all in our early 50's except Mother in Law. We like to party, but mostly in the casino.

Is the ship old?

Does it have stabilizers,,, worried about the Mother in Law who has never been on a cruise.

Should I steer him away from this cruise?

Thanks for any input

I think the Fascination is a great ship! It isn't a "party boat" any more than any other ship is. There are all ages on the ship and you can have a relaxed, quiet, laid-back cruise or you can have some fun and entertaining night life. It is a nice size - easy to get around. In some ways I like it better than the mega-ships that are so popular (and which I have sailed on). It is more intimate which I think encourages people to be friendlier and get to know each other a little better. I'd have no reservations going on the Fascination again. :)

For Christmas a few years ago I took my husband on the Fascination..our only complaint was that it was too short a trip...We've found on any of the Carnival ships we have been on that you can party with the best of them or enjoy a quieter atmosphere in the piano bar..I wouldnt steer your brother away from this ship

for the input. Now I feel better about taking this trip with them and about the Mother in Law. She is Columbian, and doesn't speak English,,, I don't speak Spanish and I am staying in the room with her. So it will be interesting. I am sure there will be many Spanish speaking people going out of Miami, that she can get to know.
