Cruise line for teens?

We are considering taking 2 grand-daughters (both age 17) on a cruise over spring break. We usually travel on HAL, but wonder if another line might be more appropriate. Carnival has an itinerary we like, but wonder if it is geared toward more younger children? Also I would love to see the Norwegian Epic, but the rooms appear to be tiny compared to HAL. We would need 2 rooms tho - I can't imagine sharing a cabin with 2 teen girls especially since we really don't know them that well. Which of the 3 lines do you think would be best?

I would think ANY cruiseline will suit....most 17 year olds don't participate in the organized activities, anyway....they tend to find others in their age group and hang out at the pool, or sports deck or arcade....stuff like that.

Yes...2 cabins is the way to go! I would make sure they are either connecting or next door...you will want to keep an eye on two 17 year old girls!

We LOVE the Epic. I think it would be a great ship for 17 year olds. They have sooo many shows, activities, and restaurants. I think this ship is a great value for the price. The cabins aren't necessarily smaller, they are just set up differently. I wouldn't try 4 in a cabin with 2 teen girls.

My son is 18, we were just on HAL in June, 12 days on Northern Europe with few teens - he had a great time. He's too old for the kids program so I can't speak to that. He went to the movie almost every night, on both sea days he went to the ballroom dancing lessons taught by the show dancers. In the evenings he often went "out" with my mother, took her dancing and to the casino. For the record my sons is into shooting sports, so back here at home he's often dressed head to toe in camo, out in the woods shooting stuff. So its especially funny to see him decked out in formalwear, enjoy totally different things on a cruise ship! Home from college last weekend, he took his suit back to campus with him as he's joined the ballroom dancing club. We met lots of teens traveling with grandparents. While there weren't a ton of kids, but he make some good friends. And most importantly, he had a great time with Grandma!
