It surprises me that there has not been more comment on the new Connoisseur Menu in La Reserve.

 

We tried it out on the Riviera in May, and thought that it was just wonderful.

 

VERY close to the Original Privée menu, but at a fraction of the cost.

Interesting I will now have to go & check the labels of my Ontario wines

We do like some of the Pellar wines

We did the Connoisseur Menu on Riviera a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the finest and most memorable meals I have ever had in my life, well worth the $165 + 18% cover.

 

The wines are different now from what you posted -- same varietals but different wineries.

 

With the perlita caviar with cream of sea urchin (I love even saying that), they serve Dom Ruinart Brut Rose, 1996 -- probably the finest year for champagne in the past one hundred. It retails here for $400 and I've seen it in restaurants for $1,000.

 

With the duck foie gras, another riesling: Donnhoff Tonschiefer Trocken 2011

 

With the tricorne ravioli with pumplin veloute: Albarin Valdamor Barrica, Rias Baixas 2009

 

With the lobster: Shafer (Napa) Chardonnary Red Shoulder Ranch 2007

 

No change for the kobe.

With the vacherin Mont d'Or cheese: Delas Freres Hermitage Marquise de la Touretter, 2006

 

Still the Peller Cabernet Franc icewine from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario with the dessert. I've been to this winery a few times; it's only an hour from where I grew up. Delicious ice wines.

When I first read that the wines had changed, my first thought was "oh no, not the Amerone" , but that is the one wine that stayed consistent.

The Amerone with the Kobe was the highlight of the meal -- I can still taste it.

PS - I hope Leslie did not have to call bingo or trivia after that photo was taken. :eek:
