Bus to Herculaneum from Naples port

Does anyone know if the following bus information is still accurate? We will be there in the beginning of November.

Go to the news vendor over the road outside the port. Get a return ticket to Herculaneum. he will show you where to catch the bus and what number bus to catch. the stop is on the traffic island in the middle of the road on the left as you look back at the ship.

When you board the bus, remember to validate your tickets in the little yellow box.

The ride is about 30 miniutes, you pass the railway station in Herculaneum and then go down a hill with the town on either side of the bus. the bus does a sharp left at the bottom of the hill and the enterance to the scavi is just around the corner.

Ask the driver to let you know when you are at Ercolano scavi.

After your visit, catch the return bus at the stp over the road from where you get off.

Its a very nice easy way to get there, no walking, no hassle.

From the center of the street would be the EAV Bus. While I find one route that goes there, it only seems to stop in Ercolano Scavi once per day. See timetable here: http://www.eavbus.it/export/sites/default/eavbus/orari/ordinarie/pdfOrari/CIRCUM/001_Scafati_-_Torre_del_Greco_-_Napoli.pdf

I would e-mail EAV and ask them directly; their customer service e-mail is here: info@eavbus.it

Be sure to tell them when you will be traveling, as the schedules will be different in the fall/winter.

We rode the train from Naples to Pompeii and then did Herculaneum on the way back. Not hard to do. Hardest part is walking to the train station from the ship. Naples isn't a very pleasant city. But we were the first people off the ship and made it to the train station with no trouble. Do your research.
