missyk55 Posted September 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2012 Should I book the dolphin/stingray swim in Grand Cayman or should I book just the stingray swim and do the dolphin swim in Cozamel?
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2012 I would do the Stingray tour in the Caymans. Keith
blue_water Posted September 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2012 We visited the dolphin operation across from the turtle farm and it looked like the typical captured dolphin set up. I would do the stingray sandbar and add a stop at Rum Point after snorkeling the reef, that would be a great day. The Wreck Grill at RP has an excellent fried grouper sandwich and the best mudslide. We just returned from a stay on GCM and did the Fat Fish tour which is fantastic. Jet-ski through the mangroves to stingray city and then hit the reef. The last tour (at 1PM) lasts 4 hrs and also includes a stop at starfish point and Rum Point.
lovevacadays Posted September 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I would just do the Stingray tour in Grand Cayman and do the dolphin excursion in Cozumel. The dolphin encounter in Grand Cayman is pretty pathetic.
Caymandiver1 Posted September 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2012 You might get lucky snorkeling at Starfish Beach. It's free and there has been a Dolphin hanging around there for a few weeks. Here'e a video http://idiveglobal.com/locations/turtle-reef/
blue_water Posted September 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2012 There are 2 separate dolphin operators on GCM Michelle, one is nicer than the other, all are pathetic to us. Starfish Point offers a few starfish and many jellyfish. Our group of 7 spotted 4 there last Fri. The stray dolphin is sometimes spotted there, we didn't see it when touring the Rum Point, Kaibo, stingray city, the reef, and starfish point last Fri. Starfish Point is not a place I'd spend the time to get to as there's nothing there really. But if you are already going to Rum Point for lunch and the beach SP is less than a mile from there and you could include it in your day. If doing that tour definitely look at Fat Fish Adventures.
