ziggy666 Posted September 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2012 I understand that the free buses do not go to the summit of Cadillac mountain, but I assume that they will drop you off at a trail head and you can get to the summit by foot. Does anyone know how long and strenuous these trails are? I am reasonably fit, but my time in port is limited and I want to use the time wisely. Thanks! SailBadtheSinner Posted September 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2012 Assuming you are visiting Bar Harbor during the operating season of the free buses (Island Explorer), then being dropped at the trail head would not be a problem. You could do the Cadillac Mountain North Ridge Trail which is rated Moderate: (some steep grades, some level stretches). There is a list of Acadia hiking trails here.
