saleaaway Posted September 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2012 I know at this time this isn't allowed,, but a few months back I read an articile that the pres of NCL had met with the government of Bermuda and this as going to change. The discussion was that if they wanted to keep the amount of ships coming to their port, including the new Breakaway they needed to let gambling happen. Has anyone heard anything new? Not traveling until next June on the Breakaway (yeah) but was hoping some progress has been made on this issue. thanks

jdvmd Posted September 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2012 Casino is still closed while ships are in Bermuda. There has been talk for years but nothing has changed.
LadyBerard Posted September 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2012 I have read that with the Breakaway doing the Bermuda run next year, that NCL is putting pressure on Bermuda authorities to allow gambling while docked next year.
Seanote Posted September 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2012 There has been discussion on this subject for years. The majority of the Bermudian people are conservative and eschew gambling. Despite attempted negotiations with the Bermudian government, cruise ship gambling is unlikely to happen in the near future. This is despite the Bermudian economy suffering economically from the recession. There is a lot of bickering among the Bermudian political parties that result in gridlock. Kinda just like here in the US. ;)
