Hi,

We are going on our first cruise next week, we are planning to visit Tarquinia did you go by bus and was the journey straight forward also would you recommend the visit.

Any information you can remember regarding where we get tickets and buses would be helpful.

Thank you in advance.

I posted about our experiences visiting tarquinia earlier this year on this site. Got timetable and translated ok but had big problems finding where to purchase tickets. The newsagents that used to sell no longer do so. We paid on the bus although the driver was most reluctant and it cost more than normal tickets. Very easy to purchase tickets for journey back. The town is lovely and well worth a visit

as said , the news seller on the corner no longer does, but you can from the Tourist office, at the gates or next door is another news seller buy a BIRG ticket for Tarquinia, not Rome, it is a all day use, was 3e

please visit the ancient Roman tombs just outside of the town, either take the bus or walk about 20 mins,

Where you get off the bus in Tarquinia, there is a very useful tourist information office.

This information is great. One more question. Do you mean to buy the BIRG ticket by the gates at the Civitaveccia port? Also, where is piazza Vittorio in Civitaveccia?

Thanks so much!

Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is just north of the cruise port entrance. Exit the port near the castle and make the first left onto Corso Centocelli then the second left onto Largo Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour. From there make the second right, then an immediate left.

On foot it's two tenths of a mile from where the port shuttle drops you off. Make a google map using Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, 00053 Civitavecchia, Roma, Lazio, Italy as your goal and you'll see what I mean.

yes, buy your tickets from outside port ,just after drop off ,I is just there, news seller just up onto the road, as said the bus stop is close bye left & left again.

if in doubt, ask at the Information office at the port drop off or news seller.

thanks a million. Now that we have an address, a map should be easy--and actually you gave very detailed directions.
