Some features of Carnival Sunshine

I saw that too. I have heard people say that they heard people say (you know how that goes) that Carnival is trying to move to more pay venues. It sounds like a step in that direction or atleast to more "ala carte" dining- whether you pay extra or not. It works in AIs and apparently works on other lines. I kind of wonder if CCL is trying to draw in new cruisers that are used to AIs, with the bar packages and new dining venues. To be honest, when I am booking an AI, I always look at things like how many bars, restaurants and pools there are. Variety is a good thing. I keep saying this is my last Carnival cruise but if Sunshine gets good reviews maybe I will try it, especially since NOLA is driveable.

I think Carnival is moving to more options that people didn't have before. They aren't eliminating anything. You still have a choice.

I never did understand the complaints about when they offered the steak and lobster choice from the steakhouse in the MDR why so many were so mad about it.. when they took away nothing...but made a option for those who wanted it.

I like more options myself. No one twists your arm to do them.

I did not say they were- simply that it appears they are going toward more of an ala carte/speciality dining concept like NCL or AIs do. If they go that direction, I won't mind. I like variety. Actually I like the idea of more venues, but prefer that they are included in the base price. ;)

Kind of like the complaints from people here about the comfort food. People act like that's all they have when all they did was add something. Plenty of choices. Our last cruise, one night I just didn't feel well. I decided to have the fried chicken and it wasn't too bad and was like its called, comfort food.

I don't get why people here complain about stuff like that. We meet a lot of people on our cruises and I have never heard people complain about the things that are complained about here. The biggest complaints I hear about on the cruise itself are smoke in the casino or the cruise being too short.

Never hear me complain about the food. I tried the fried chicken and I was already too full by the time it came to really enjoy it much. I like friend chicken. I just cant eat as much as they serve at one time. I kinda browse at home. They serve enough meat at dinner, it would serve my whole family a meal. Ive had to get over wasting food. Other than too big of portions .. Im good.

My TA is taking us to the steak restaurant next week. Cant wait. I like to eat, and never go hungry on a cruise.. but the more options the better.

I hear the meat loaf is less than steller, so I probably will never order that.. but thats about it.

Lots of people including me disagree with your opinion - I enjoyed my cruise on Destiny and will love my cruise on Carnival Sunshine.

We just got off the Destiny (the same B2B one from the review Sarge was talking about earlier) and did not find it overly crowded. Were some places more crowded than others? Sure, so we went elsewhere if we didn't want to be around that many people.

We did notice that the second leg of our trip seemed more crowded than the first even though both cruises had approx the # of passengers.

I am booked on the inaugural cruise out of Venice on April 12th and can not wait! I understand the staff will be "new-ish" and maybe everything won't be done, but I am so excited about the first 14 day itinerary. We are in a Spa Balcony because of a recent sale that brought the fares down to less than what we were paying for a regular balcony...but wish Sunshine was getting a T-pool. Guess I will just have to enjoy the hot tub on the Serenity Deck. Thinking it will be a cruise with less kids so may not be so crowded due to kids being in school. Looking forward to all the changes in the ship and trying out the live karaoke. (and did I mention the awesome ports!!!!) :)

I've noticed that on cruises too. I think on some trips - there are just more people that want to eat all the time - that makes the lido very crowded. The bars, casino, shows etc were not - just the dang buffet, grill, pizza, deli etc - jammed all the time. PS - hardly anyone at the steakhouse. I think it was only the free stuff.

We are also on this cruise! Can't wait. Not superstitious so I don't believe in bad luck because of the name change. I am looking forward to sailing on the Sunshine. Got our first aft Wrap! Always get the aft but this time we lucked out and got a wrap. :)

We are already booked on the Carnival Sunshine for December 8, 2013. So excited. We booked it a few weeks ago during the 72 hour sale and we got a great rate. I want to cruise on the Sunshine to see the 3 deck Serenity area. That is going to be awesome :D

Okay, you say a new ship deserves a new name, but it is more like a ship with a bad name is getting a name change.

I don't know about this Sunshine thing.

The food options sound a bit too much like the food court at the mall.

I am going with the people who are giving it a wait and see.

And since they closed Mobile, New Orleans is our only "drivable" port.

I kind of hate seeing this frankenstein ship ship stuck in there.

Conquest was looking kind of grubby in April, but at least Conquest is a sure thing.

Can you GET any more negative?

Food options sound more like Restaurant Row to me... all in how you look at it.

Hmmmm.... just checked the rates on the Sunshine for winter 2013/2014 when she returns to NOLA... they are outstanding. Might have to take advantage. Hubby has been wanting to return to New Orleans for a visit... could combine the two. Oh wait... maybe book a cruise to coincide with the crawfish festival in Lafayette...a sea and land tour...:p

A "new" ship with low rates? That's not good!
