mafig Posted September 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2012 We have decided to take a cruise out of New Orleans. However, we have not decided whether to fly or drive. Since Drury Inn no longer offers a parking option, we would only stay there if we fly. It gets such good reviews here and on Trip Advisor, but I do have some questions about its location. I know it is not too far from the FQ, but exactly how far is it? Blocks? Miles? Also, is the area safe for walking after dark. Not after midnight after dark, but more like between 10 and 11 ish. Also, is it far from Harrah's Casino? Walkable? Any other information you can give me would be appreciated.:)
crusinmama22 Posted September 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2012 The answers to most of your questions are further down on this board. We booked the Drury Inn for our Feb cruise. I believe there is a trolly stop just outside the hotel and it is about 4-6 blocks I can't remember. Check the board. Hope you enjoy.
smurfm69 Posted September 24, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2012 It's about a mile walk to the French Quarter, maybe a little more if you wanted to go to Jackson Square and Cafe du Monde. It's a short walk to Harrah's Casino and the Aquarium of the Americas. There is also a riverfront trolley,(or streetcar as we call it), right along the river by the aquarium that you can take. It's $1.25 per person and will take you right by the Quarter or you can ride it further down to Margaritaville. I think they stop running around 10:30pm. Hope you have a great time down here and on your cruise.
