Paul also said that we almost didn't have a piano player tonight because he couldn't sleep after the emergency satellite call at 2AM letting him know that his wife had the baby. So I'm wondering if they will be replacing him the next cruise.

He did a great job tonight. I don't know how he did it with everything that is on his mind now. Hope mom and baby girl are doing well!

Congrats to Rory on the birth of his daughter early this morning! Paul Baya announced at tonight's show that he got the phone call around 2AM this morning.

Umm.... I think someone is mixed up... Rory and I didn't have a baby lol...

And yes.. I'll be there lol... I don't know where this info came from....

Hi DaMara,

I have to say I was quite surprised when I read that as I didn't think Rory was married or that you were pregnant!! (Not that you should reveal all your personal details here in CC by any means). Seemed unlikely that you would be flying to Florida and cruising if you just had a baby

Glad you set the record straight. Merry Xmas and Bon Voyage.

If I get to meet Rory in January, I'll be sure to congratulate him;).

DaMara,

Just jumping in here for some advice. We are on the Connie departing out of Miami in two days (flying tomorrow). We met and really enjoyed the boys of Top Shelf while sailing on Equinox in June and we know they are now on the Connie. Could you give me any suggestions for what the 'boys' might like to receive as a small Christmas/holiday present from us that would be easy to travel with? Would love to give them a little something but am having a hard time thinking about what would be welcomed onboard. Gift cards to something? Some type of food/candy?

Any last minute help would be appreciated.

A lot of things reported on these threads have no basis in fact. Am sure it was a very un-intentional miscommunication so please do not let it bother you.

Have a great cruise and keep us posted on Rory. We met him on Reflection and, wow, is he talented.

Depending on how old your boys are (if they are over the age of 21) something to do on board would maybe be to take them to the casino one night on the ship, my parents did that for me for my birthday, it was pretty fun!

If under that age, I know that I personally love getting gift cards (being in college, money is always sparse) and you can't really go wrong there!

I hope this helps... :)

That's funny about the "birth" of your baby! I remember we were on a Celebrity cruise & the cruise director, I can't remember who it was, announced that 2 of his staff had gotten engaged on the sailing. When I went to congratulate the groom to be, who was part of the activity staff, he said that they had not got engaged, & that the CD just made it up! He said they do that all the time to the passengers. Sometimes I think they make stuff up to make the guests feel like they are in on something. I take everything they say about their personal lives with a grain of salt!

Well if Paul made that up, I think it was a pretty strange joke. There is only one keyboard player in the orchestra named Rory that I have seen. He has blonde hair and wears dark glasses. He was also our Muster Station person in the Ensemble Lounge. Paul said the baby girl weighed 6lbs 8oz. and Rory waved his hand up when Paul announced it. Here I thought I would be the first to congratulate you guys. Very weird.

I talked to Rory today. It was obviously a joke and Rory went along with it. (Against his better judgement in my opinion...) Paul does it all the time I guess. Rory also said that Paul claimed Rory had "been away from 11 months" implying the joke, that his non-existent wife had an affair. That was the whole premises of the joke.

Rory has blond hair, dark glasses. We aren't married, and we don't have any children lol.

When engagement and babies come.. I'll let you all know. ;)
