Latest on new Grand Cayman dock?

A few years ago, I read that FINALLY the Grand Cayman council had voted to build like a 300 million dollar new docking port ( I think for 4 ships) funded by the Chinese government....anyone know if any progress has been made on this or seen the port being constructed? Shame that RCI and others have dropped GC from many itineraries....great port of call....

Don't hold your breath, a lot of red tape on this project. RCL still has Freedom, Jewel, Navigator, Mariner, and Indy going to GC.

Still not a single load of concrete poured nor a shovel full of dirt moved.

 

There will be a new election in May of 2013. If the other party gains control then I'd expect to see the whole project put up for tender again.

 

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
