The Last September Alaska cruise Pearl or Jewel

WE did the last week of the season (mid Sept) on the Star a few years ago and all the ships stop around the same time so it will be as busy as any other time with as many ships in ports as well.

We had amazing weather, it was our first balcony and I can't tell you how much use we got out of it even while sailing.

The other advantage is that all the stores in the ports are discounted and mostly at 50% off. I stocked up on vacuumed packed smoked salmon, it was amazing. This is not your bagel and cream cheese salmon but the whole salmon filet and in oil, it's great reheated, cold in salads or even on a bagel.

My best friend from jr & sr high was on last weeks Jewel cruise. The ship was full - they adjust the prices until they are. I would have chosen the Pearl - better glacier day, but they didn't ask me. I don't think they knew there was a difference. But I think that's why the Jewel is a little cheaper (I'm just guessing).
